For the past 45 years, the Toronto Film Society has hosted a May film weekend in northern Ontario, and now for the first time ever, the May film weekend will play out right here in Toronto. The “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” Weekend will run from Friday, May 11 through Sunday May 13 at Toronto’s very own Carlton Cinema.

The weekend kicks off with a screening of the Steve Martin’s comic classic Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid and continues with screenings of all 18 of the classic 1940s films featured in the movie. That’s roughly 36 hours of movies, many of them film noir!

The cost for the weekend is $150. This includes all 19 films and 3 lunches at the theatre. Toronto Film Society will be offering the daily rates of $65 a day for Friday or Saturday, and $50 for Sunday, including lunches. Rush seats will be available for $10 at the door prior to each screening. Check out their website for showtimes. All screenings are at the Carlton Cinema (20 Carlton Street). Film screenings on Friday and Saturday begin at 9:00 am; Sunday at 9:30 am.

The “Dead Men” weekend has come and gone! It was a wonderful time for all who were there.

Toronto Film Society’s “Another British Invasion” will be coming this summer during July and August as well as the annual film weekend to George Eastman House on the Civic Day long weekend.
