You know guys… I can’t think of anything witty or pithy to say today. It’s been a long week and I really just want to go and boot around on my sweet new ride. Any suggestions on sweet biking spots in Toronto?  Before I tear out, ringing my bell all the way, I put together some recommendations of the latest and greatest from the dear interwebs. Check ’em out and happy viewing!

  • The Magic Lantern Film Blog revisits The Great Dictator. This Chaplin movie often (unfairly in my opinion) gets short shrift. Can you beat that globe scene?
  • “After all the nice things I’ve said about that hag. When I get hold of her, I’ll tear out every hair of her mustache!” Who was Tallulah Bankhead talking about? Find out in “They said WHAT?! Classic Insults from Classic Actors” over at Movie Morlocks.
  • Pretty Clever Film Gal must have Chaplin on the brain this week… read The Art and Culture of Movie’s review of “Between Showers” (1914), a Chaplin Keystone short.
  • Richard Harlan Smith forgives Leonard Maltin. I, however, do not. Too soon, too soon.
  • Java’s Journey looks at Bobby O’s relationship with Lucille Ball. I miss him so much, I’ll take it. And, seriously, what’s wrong with Tippi Hedren? Her stand-in spots were… weird?
  • Wired takes a look at The Auteur Myth, using, of course, Alfred J. Hitchcock.
  • YouTube user silentfilmdemocracy uploads silents in their entirety, all for the love of movies. Start with The Man Who Laughs and check out all the rest:
