EUFF13 Review: God Loves Caviar (2013)

When one thinks “pirate,” Johnny Depp and swashbuckling come to mind, not Catherine the Great. But with the Greek film God Loves Caviar, she becomes just as much entangled with the devious actions of a pirate as any other skull and bones flick. The film does a good job at flashiness but lacks a bit of the political punch that it sets off to do: what exactly does Varvakis’ Greek identity bring to the table intellectually?

God Loves Caviar screens on Friday, November 22,2013 6:30 PM. To reserve your space for this free screening, visit the European Union Film Festival Toronto website.
