Film Friday | Weekly Roundup

Wowee! It’s been quite the Buster Keaton -centric week! Buster is near and dear to my heart, so to see such an outpouring of affection and appreciation for him gives me the warm and fuzzies (I think that’s the correct technical term). Pretty Clever Films will be Bustering it up all month, so watch out for more Keaton related posts and updates, be sure to keep an eye on the amazing Project Keaton sponsored by The Kitty Packard Pictorial, and check the Happy Buster Keaton Month post right here at PCF, updated as I collect links and mentions. Now, you may find this hard to believe, but there was a lot of non-Buster Keaton things going down this week too. The interweb wires are sizzling with classic film reviews and celebrations of classic horror movies. OOOh, spooky! So let’s get down to the latest and the greatest non-Buster from this week. • Arbogast on Films reviews 1927′s The Cat and The Canary, which is pretty awesome cause I get to see this gem on October 30 at the Revue Cinema.
• Noir and Chick Flicks remembers forgotten silent film actress Florence LaBadie.
• Confessions of a Film Philistine reviews the eternally intriguing Gilda from 1946.
• All Good Things is reviewing a classic horror movie every day this month, including a personal fav Tarantula!. Check it out and check back often.
• Silent Volume reviews a movie that’s been on my watch list for a long time but that I’ve never had a chance to see, Our Dancing Daughters with a very young Joan Crawford.
• The Night Editor has an awesome series going, The Noir of Orson Welles.
• Classic Becky’s Brain Food is two years old! Stop by to wish Becky and happy birthday and see how it all started with her first post, “The Most Terrifying Book I Have Ever Read.”
