It’s been a busy week here at Pretty Clever Headquarters! Exciting things are happening, Pretty Clever Films joined the LAMB, and life is good. Well, there’s one problems, the perennial problem – so many movies, so little time! Though as far as problems go, that’s a great one to have. Never fear, despite my overfull TIVO, Pretty Clever Film Gal has taken the time to round of the best of the interwebs just for you. Happy reading, happy viewing, and let’s get to it!

The Set Up is an amazing boxing movie and an amazing film noir and yet I can never remember the name of the movie . Thanks for Karen at Shadows and Satin for the reminder and this great review.

Maybe it was Five Star Final, but I’m on a Karloff kick. Check out Film Fracture’s review of Val Lewton’s great Isle of the Dead starring Boris Karloff.

Another lost film is found. Pola Negri’s Mania is making the rounds, new score and all.

I like all of KC’s classic movie haiku, but I love this Seven Year Itch haiku.

Thanks to this review from Silent Volume, His Majesty, The Scarecrow of Oz joins my every growing “must see” list.

The always engaging Mandy of The Mandy/Ebert project loves F.W. Murnau’s silent Faust.

Cinema Viewfinder hosted a very busy Nicolas Ray Blogathon and so many amazing reviews and essays were posted all around the interwebs. Start at Cinema Viewfinder and go from there.

A convo with @moviebungalow reminded me of the Buster Keaton episode of The Twilight Zone. You can stream the entire episode on Netflix (The Twilight Zone Original Series, Season 3, episode “Once Upon a Time”). Here’s a clip to whet your appetite:
